Description

I've been reading a book called Economic Science Fictions which explores the role that Economic Science Fictions play in shaping our perspectives of the future. The main thesis of the book is that we have difficulty in coming up with any ideas for futuristic economics because we lack the creativity and ideas of science fictions, which can give us examples of futures we want to see.

For this bounty, I want people to come up with their own economic science fictions by writing short stories (500 words) which describe a new way of doing business, managing resources, or allocating wealth that is better or more interesting than our current forms of capitalism. Submissions will then be combined into a book, which we'll distribute at Devcon 5 in Osaka.

These science fictions can be both utopian (showing us a future we WANT to see), or dystopian (showing us the perils of a future we want to avoid).

Requirements

This bounty is meant only for users who have high levels of english proficiency, and feel they are creative enough to undertake this challenge and come up with interesting new stories.

Submissions must be:

  • More than 500 words long (but hopefully not too much longer)
  • Explorations of new or novel economic systems that can inspire people and help them come up with new ideas for future economic systems
  • Written in gramatically correct english, using good diction, and proper story telling techniques

Submission Instructions

To submit for this bounty, please first apply by supplying a link to a piece of writing in english that you're proud of, which shows your ability to write clearly and consisely.

10 applicants will be selected to complete this bounty, and write their own science fictions. All 10 submissions will be paid the bounty of 0.1 ETH. To submit your writing, please share a link to a google doc (or similar document sharing service) which is publicly accessible.

After that, our favourite submission (selected at our own discretion) will also receive an additional 0.1 ETH as a prize for being the best submission of the 10 that we receive.

PLEASE NOTE: THE DEADLINE LISTED HERE IS THE HARD DEADLINE, SINCE AMPLE TIME MUST BE LEFT FOR US TO PRINT OUT THE STORIES.

Things to Note

We reserve the right to accept applicants and submissions at our own discretion, and will have complete creative ownership and liberties to the submissions here.

Privatebounty

Private bounties require that users apply to fulfill the bounty. Once you are approved by the issuer, you may submit a fulfillment for this bounty.

What if your speech was your money, your money was your freedom, your privacy was sin, and your time was running out?

Hello - here is my submission for the bounty. Short, but not quite as short as the 500 word guidance (apologies, but it's close). There's a deeper story I want to tell - a caution against tying money to speech, to centralizing oversight, a warning against the erosion of privacy that can happen even with digital money. Perhaps especially with digital money.
